The Wheel of Woe:
Many business owners make these 12 critical mistakes
Caught in the whirlwind of the daily grind, many businesses make these 12 Critical Mistakes, affectionately known as the “Wheel of Woe.”
No matter the size of your business or what stage you're at, change is the name of the game. Starting up, scaling up, switching up your software, keeping your team happy, or just making things run smoother – it's all about making moves. But here's the kicker: 80% of these big ideas don't quite make it across the finish line. Why? Well, there are a few usual suspects that trip folks up time and time again. That's where the magic of having a RevOps consultant comes into play – think of it as having a secret weapon to dodge those pitfalls and keep your business on the fast track to success.

You're a pro at what you do, but entrepreneurship requires a different set of skills. Running a business without training is like trying to assemble IKEA furniture without the manual or
screws. If questions like
"What's effective
marketing?" or "How do I
balance work and life?"
sound familiar, it's time for
a change.
Mistake #1: The Expertise Trap
Some folks dive in without a plan, while others get stuck overthinking every detail. It's the difference between jumping on a boat without a map or staring at the ocean too scared to sail. Either way, you're not going anywhere fast.
Mistake #4: Lack of Planning or Analysis Paralysis
Mistake #2: Lack of Resources: It's like trying to cook a gourmet meal with just a microwave and a spoon. You might have the vision, but without the right ingredients—money, people, time—you're left with a lot of hunger and not much on the plate.
Mistake #3: Procrastination & Time Management: Ever find yourself cleaning the entire office instead of tackling that big project? That's procrastination with a side of poor time management. It's the art of being busy with everything except what you actually need to do.
Mistake #5: Tools/Apps: In the digital age, not using the right tools or apps is like leaving your smartphone at home and stepping out with a map and a pager. Sure, you might get there eventually, but you're making life way harder than it needs to be.
Mistake #6: Habits: Bad habits are like comfy old sneakers—easy to slip into but hard to run a marathon in. Whether it's neglecting networking or dodging data analysis, it's time to trade in those old kicks for something that'll actually get you across the finish line.
Mistake #7: Commitment & Prioritization: Running a business without setting priorities is like trying to juggle flaming torches while riding a unicycle. Without commitment to what truly matters, you're just one wobble away from a spectacular crash.
Mistake #8: Fear / Resistance / Mindset: Fear is the monster under the entrepreneur's bed. Whether it's fear of failure, change, or just the unknown, it keeps you up at night and holds you back during the day. Overcoming it requires a flashlight of resilience and a hefty dose of courage.
Hiring specialists might seem like a solution, but it's often just a band-aid. Like the client who invested in SEO without realizing his business thrived on networking, not search engine visibility.
Mistake #9: Treating the Symptoms
Without repeatable systems, your business can't efficiently drive sales, support customers, or scale. Everything you do takes longer and costs a lot more.
Mistake #12: System Chaos
Mistake #10: Expectations: Setting the bar too high or too low is like trying to hit a moving target while blindfolded. Unrealistic expectations can lead to disappointment or complacency, neither of which will score you any points in the business game.
Mistake #11: Leadership, Stakeholders & Culture: Leadership that isn't actually skilled in project management, delegation, servant leadership, and other proven management skills are bound to make missteps throughout the project. Stakeholders who aren't fully bought into the need and the benefit of the change may slow down progress, cut funding, or create additional barriers to success. Business culture can also impact the success of a change initiative. Overall, people are always the biggest wild card, and getting all of the people impacted by a change is critical.

Why RevOps Consulting is the
Unseen Game-Changer in Business
Success
Here's the hard truth:
80% of Business Change Initiatives Fail. Not start-ups, not mergers, not re-organizations…change. Period. Any change, all changes, any attempt to alter or improve "how" you do the things you do, will fail. Ideas are easy. Implementation is hard.
Here's another cold, hard truth:
Refusing to change. Living by the trite sayings, "We've always done it this way!" or "If it's not broken, don't fix it!" also sets you up for failure. Ignoring problems doesn't make them disappear. It only magnifies them. Sticking your head in the sand might feel safe, but it leaves your business vulnerable and stagnant.

Break Down Silos
Traditionally, businesses have been broken down into sub-sections called departments or teams. These departments competed with each other for budget, set their own goals and priorities, and were internally-managed from top-down VPs.
The result? Departments treat other departments as adversaries, building protective walls, lacking consideration or empathy for the needs of others, and avoiding cross departmental communication at all costs. Change initiatives fail 80% of the time in siloed businesses.
By breaking down silos, RevOps Managers align Marketing, Sales, and Service, ensuring they work in concert, not in conflict. This approach doesn't just attract more customers; it delights them, turning your business into a well-oiled machine that maximizes profits at every turn.
Traditionally structured businesses typically focus their revenue generating attention almost entirely on generating sales. This is short sighted. RevOps - Revenue Operations - is focused on maximizing business revenue through a multi-pronged approach. A skilled RevOps Consultant will discover untapped potential in your business turning challenges into opportunities, revealing hidden avenues for revenue and growth, and ensuring your business capitalizes on every possibility.
- Embrace the 20/40 Cost vs Profits Rule: A 20% reduction in cost is equal to a 40% increase in net profits. I go beyond the basics like renegotiating contracts. I dive deep into streamlining your operations, optimizing technology, and enhancing employee satisfaction to stop the financial leaks and boost your bottom line.
- Address Root Causes: Siloed businesses are blind to how problems can cascade from one department to another. Often, they only treat the issues they can see which are only symptoms of a bigger problem. Unlike solutions that fix one problem at a time and often create more problems in their wake, RevOps addresses the root causes of your challenges. I create wholistic solutions that positively impact your entire operation, ensuring long-term success and stability.
- Boost ROI Through Smart Choices: Let's be real—poor decisions are costly. My guidance helps you avoid costly mistakes and focus on investments that yield substantial returns, ensuring every decision contributes to your business's growth and profitability.
The choice is clear: Embrace change and thrive, or resist and risk falling behind. Let's choose growth, efficiency, and success. Let's choose to work smarter, not harder with RevOps Management.

But don't worry - you're not alone and you don't have to figure it out on your own. I don't want you to
look back over the last 5, 10, 15 years and wonder why your business never took off the way you
thought it would.
I'm a time traveler, sent by your future self to show you how to do it differently NOW.
I offer you a trip in my Tardis.
I Don‘t Charge an Hourly Rate -
Here‘s Why...
When I work with a client as a Fractional RevOps Manager, I do not charge an hourly rate, I charge for a trip in my Tardis (time machine for lay folk). Let me explain...
How many time have you said to yourself…
- I wish I could go back in time and tell myself the things I know now?
- If I could go back in time and do it all again, I'd do it differently.
We all have, but if you don't figure out how to strategically organize, plan and scale your business, you will…
Waste weeks, months, even years learning the hard way (aka making costly mistakes)
Struggle to earn enough money to live the life you dream of
Miss out on opportunities due to lack of confidence in yourself or the steps to take
Experience Increased Stress, Overwhelm and Isolation
A Tardis Ticket Gets You...
- Back to the Future: You receive all of the time I've invested over my entire career gaining experience and knowledge. Working with me is like getting a board of advisors, a college professor and a talk therapist for your business - 3 for the price of 1! You receive knowledge & experience of time past.
- A Wrinkle in Time: Traditional learning either through a formal educational institution or from the free school of Google is a slow, time-consuming process full of noise, false starts, and misdirection. I remove all the noise and distill information down into its purest form so you can learn and change at the speed of light. Working with me is the shortest distance between point A and point B - making it the most cost effective. A Tardis Ticket = Time Saved.
- Multiverse Trajectory: Choices carry a cost in time and money. Mistakes are expensive. Having an experienced expert helps you to avoid costly mistakes.
- The Ghost of Christmas Future: Many business owners look back and say, "If only I could go back in time, I'd do it all again differently." In the end, the only regrets you should have are poorly timed farts. I am the Ghost of Christmas Future, traveling back through time to alter your course into the future.
You are not paying for my time. You pay for experience, value, results, benefits, and prioritization. You pay for a ride in my Tardis to reclaim your own time.

What is the difference between
Coaching,
Consulting & Fractional Services?
Consulting
As a consultant, I am like a board of advisors and a college professor. I provide advice and education. I’ll also help with strategic planning. Generally, we’ll meet twice a month.
(*I won’t actually yell at you. But I will be really honest.)
Coaching
Coaching is more like a talk therapist for your business. I will help you overcome mindset barriers, make decisions, set goals, and hold you accountable. Generally, we’ll meet twice a month.
The good news is that when you work with me, you don’t have to pick one. I provide both consulting and coaching services and will pivot between them as the situation calls for.
Fractional
When acting in a fractional capacity, I am actively embedded in your organization. I am hands on and generally interacting on a regular basis with many different individuals. In addition to coaching and consulting services, I may provide things like weekly check-in meetings, project and people management services, creating processes and systems, and providing deliverables.
